Introduction

Upon graduation from NUS, I spent 10 years as a haematology-oncology clinical research coordinator in a Singapore hospital, where I witnessed acute medical crises shatter not only their physical body but many dreams and relationships. It was invaluable to have someone alongside the patients and their families to process the myriad of complex emotions.

While in Scotland for my Master of Counselling, I worked as a casual support worker, assisting clients with various needs in dignified and independent living. Through this privileged role, I saw firsthand their holistic needs. My 2 years of counselling practicum and volunteering in the UK also offered me opportunities to work with bereaved clients from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Back in Singapore, I worked 5 years as a counsellor in a social sector agency, where I journeyed with clients from complex family dynamics facing harsh realities. This experience prompted me to expand a wider perspective of meeting people in their layered intersections.

From my broad experience, I hold particular passion for bereavement, loss and grief in diverse contexts, the embodied psychological impact of physical illness and working with people cross-culturally.
