Introduction
Deirdre is deeply committed to strengthening and supporting resilient families. She previously led the adoption services team at TOUCH, where she served as a chief Signatory Officer, assessor, and counsellor. With more than a decade of experience in adoption practice, she assessed prospective adoptive parents, counselled birth families through adoption decisions, facilitated adoption placements, and supported contact arrangements between fostered or adopted children and their birth families through trauma-informed access work in partnership with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
Her areas of practice include adoption-related matters, marital and relationship issues, anxiety and stress management, infertility and pregnancy loss, parenting challenges, and support for children, adolescents, and parents. Drawing on decades of experience working with families, Deirdre provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental therapeutic space for clients to develop self-awareness, practical coping strategies, and resilience. Her warm and approachable manner enables her to build trusting therapeutic relationships that support personal growth, well-being, and stronger family relationships.
